Squamish Canyon: Beautiful British Columbia's nature reset

Is there a better place for a mental reset than in nature? Squamish Canyon might be exactly what you need right now.

I loved finally being able to visit Squamish Canyon, B.C.’s brand new attraction that’s just an hour from Vancouver.

If you’re not familiar, Squamish Canyon is a 1.5-km boardwalk, built at a cost of $18 million. This entire area had been slated to be logged before it was rescued from that fate.

It’s very cool that the 100% B.C. wood boardwalk — built with yellow cedar and underpinned by Douglas fir — hugs 39 trees that were built around rather than cut. These are now known as the “huggable trees,” and visitors are encouraged to show them love.

If you’re in B.C., or planning a trip here, put Squamish Canyon on your list.

They have fantastic events such as a children’s story time as well as doggy happy hours. Regular tours are free and will resume in spring. The clear, heated domes where visitors can have lunch are genius.
