Red-carpet looks:
Where to shop in Los Angeles

The iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles

Lights, camera, fashion! Thanks, Academy Awards red carpet, for giving us some sorely needed glamour at Oscars 2023.

If you're a fan of Oscars glitz like I am, it may even have started you thinking about where to go for some serious shopping. In my view there's no better place for a stylish vacation than Los Angeles, where the Oscars took place. (On a side note, can I just say how absolutely over-the-moon thrilled I am that Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis won acting Oscars for Everything Everywhere All at Once?)

Annnyway ... I visit L.A. a lot because it's an easy getaway for me and I can assure you that from trendy boutiques to designer showrooms, this city is home to some of the most renowned fashion districts in the world.

If you're travelling here in the next while, keep your eyes open for knockoff versions of some of the stunning Oscar gowns worn by celebrities on the red carpet. Knockoff brands may not be for everyone, but they do offer an opportunity for fashion lovers to capture the glamour of the Oscars red carpet without breaking the bank.

Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills: Luxury shopping at its finest

Here are some of the top fashion districts in L.A. ... Start getting that credit card warmed up now!

Melrose Avenue: This iconic street is a must-visit for fashionistas, with a mix of high-end boutiques, vintage shops and trendy cafes. Melrose Avenue is also home to some of the top stylists and designers who work with Hollywood A-listers, so keep an eye out for celebrity sightings.

Beverly Hills: Known for its luxury shopping, Beverly Hills is the perfect place to find designer dresses, shoes and accessories for your own red carpet moment. Rodeo Drive is the most famous street in Beverly Hills, but the surrounding areas are also packed with luxury boutiques and specialty stores.

Downtown L.A.: If you're looking for unique finds and eclectic styles head to downtown LA, where you'll find everything from vintage clothing to handmade jewelry. The Fashion District in downtown L.A. is a treasure trove of wholesale shops, fabric stores and designer showrooms.

Love the Academy Awards red carpet looks? Here's where to shop in L.A. to get those Oscar-worthy styles

Besides the shopping, there are plenty of other things to do in L.A. that might augment that Hollywood vibe. Here are some tips:

Visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame: This iconic sidewalk is a tribute to some of the biggest names in entertainment, with more than 2,600 stars to see.

Attend a taping of a TV show: L.A. is home to many popular TV shows that offer tickets to live tapings. This is a great way to get an inside look at the entertainment industry and see some of your favourite stars up close. If you're planning to do this, start your request online way in advance of your trip.

Take a studio tour: Many studios offer behind-the-scenes tours that give visitors a glimpse of the magic that happens on set. There's a good chance you might see some of the props and costumes from Oscar-nominated films.

You can't go wrong choosing L.A. as a destination during awards season or anytime, really. With so many fashion districts, boutiques and (hopefully!) celebrity sightings, it's sure to be an Oscar-worthy vacation.
