Fairmont Chateau Frontenac
in Quebec City: Extraordinary

Fairmont Chateau Frontenac Quebec City is incredible

I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in some cool hotels. The Fairmont Chateau Frontenac is in a league of its own.

The Chateau Frontenac is in Quebec City, in a former railway station that’s as incredible inside as it is on the exterior. In 1981, the building was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.

From the moment you step into the grand lobby, you're transported to another time. The ornate details, soaring ceilings and elegant furnishings are a feast for the eyes. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive, without being overly so, if you know what I mean.

The rooms are spacious and luxurious — even the most basic one like the one I booked — with plush beds, high-end linens and all the amenities you could ask for. The Chateau Frontenac is Quebec City's only five-star hotel, and it shows. The hotel even had BMW bicycles for guests to borrow, and I loved using them to explore the city.

Really, though, with the hotel situated in the heart of Old Quebec, visitors are just steps away from some of the city's best attractions. Explore the quaint cobblestone streets or take a stroll along the river; everything is within easy walking distance.

But even if you never left the hotel, you'd still have plenty to keep you occupied. The Frontenac boasts an impressive array of amenities, including a spa, indoor pool and several gorgeous restaurants and bars. In fact, the restaurants are SO good that after a first meal off-site, we ate every meal in the hotel.

The Chateau Frontenac is definitely on the pricier side but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. If you're planning a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to a truly unforgettable experience, this is the way to go.

Quebec City itself is also an incredible destination. With its rich history, charming architecture and French-inspired cuisine, it's a must-visit for anyone who loves culture and history. And the Chateau Frontenac is the perfect base from which to explore it all.
